Night Elf Completed

Well, here is the final version of my Night Elf.

It took me over 75 hours of work to make this sculpture out of plasticine (oil based clay). I tried different methods to make the eyes, lips and the nose; I made the organs, then I removed them and made them again with another method. I believe the eyebrows ain’t as i expected, but couldn’t do anything about them for I was in a hurry making them.

To judge my work, I took photos of the sculpture from different angles, then study the photos on my compuer. Also to correct the shape of the sculpture, I did not look at my sculpture for awhile, which helped me to understand which organ is not well made.

And here is a brief about Elves in case you dont know much about them:

All elves are exceptionally long lived and, at one point, were immortal, though the main races of elves have lost their immortality. Further, all elves possess glowing eyes, a sign of the use of great spells — a being of any race can exhibit glowing eyes while focusing or casting a particularly powerful spell, but the trait is innate in only a few races, most of which are demons or undead.

As a general rule, elves are slim, athletic, and graceful. Furthermore, they all have large pointed ears that tend to be greeted with admiration or mockery by other races.

Typically, night elves have longer ears than high/blood elves, whereas the latter’s point upward rather than backward.

A characteristic of elves on Azeroth are their unusual eyebrows, which extend beyond their faces, resembling either whiskers or antennae. There has been no official coverage of this anatomical oddity, despite it being present in all official artwork. Though it may be speculated that this is due to the elves extreme longevity; the brow’s continuing growth over the life of the individual to its extreme length.

One similarity between night elves, high elves, and blood elves has only recently come about. The night elves sacrificed their immortality and much of their power at the end of the Third War. Thus, all elves are now mortal and have comparable lifespans that can extend as long as several thousand years.

My baby girl

Happy twenty-ten to those who celebrate this time of the year as their new year, Iranians celerbate invernal equinox as the new year and call it Norouz, it falls on 21st of March, so when March comes don’t forget to prepare your cards for me. : D

Back to my baby girl, my main concern for this session was the neck muscles, aside that I tweaked the left jaw and the left eye. Yeah, the eye! making a good eye really is a pain, and I am not happy with the eyes yet.  By the way, I tried to remove the bumps on the sculpture and smoothed the body. Hope it looks fine overall.

Elf bust – Work In Progress

Hello there, first thing first, merry Christmas to those who celebrate it and happy holidays to those who have some, no Christmas and holidays here, so instead you can say Happy Yalda to me, which is the longest night of the year and celebrated by Iranians.

Back to the blog and the title,  I have been messing with the blog and WordPress to make sure there is nothing amiss before publishing the posts. Now that I have made sure all things are all right, I am going to show the W.I.P of my Female Elf sculpture on which I have been working for awhile, it is not completed yet and got loads of problems, I couldn’t imagine how difficult making the eyes and lips can get, but after all its my first bust and just my second work on plasticine, however I would really appreciate your comments.
